MySQL service cannot start on a server with Windows Active Directory Domain Services role installed

Symptoms

MySQL Server 5.6 service cannot start after upgrade to Plesk Onyx:

Windows could not start the MySQL56 service on Local Computer.
Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

MySQL56 service exists, however trying to run it via services.msc utility the process hangs in 'Starting' state.

Windows Active Directory Domain Services role is installed on the server.

Cause

Corrupted MySQL56 service installation.

Resolution

  1. Stop mysqld.exe process if any, except for one that is running as PleskSQLServer service.

  2. Remove mysql56-server-configurator.msi package from C:\\ParallelsInstaller\\parallels\\PANEL-WIN_17.0.17\\dist-msi-Microsoft-2003-i386\\ .
