Interrupted Plesk installation fails to recognize Bind as installed

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.5 for Windows

Symptoms

Plesk installation was interrupted suddenly by system/user after Bind installation:

C:\\plesk_installer.exe --select-release-id PANEL_12_5_30_WIN --install-component common --install-component panel --install-component urlrewrite --install-component plesk-migration-manager --install-component awstats --install-component spamassassin --install-component ssi --install-component mailenable --install-component webmail --install-component mysql-client --install-component mysql-odbc5 --install-component phpmyadmin --install-component php56 --install-component mssql2012 --install-component dns --install-component mylittleadmin

After re-run Plesk installation, DNS component is marked as installed:

parallels_installer_3.18.12.exe --select-release-id PANEL_12_5_30_WIN --show-components
dns [up2date] - BIND DNS Server

But DNS service is not enabled:

C:\\Users\\Administrator\\Downloads>"C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Parallels\\Plesk\\\\bin\\server_dns" -i
The DNS service is not installed.

Cause

Interrupted Plesk installation by user.

Unexpected interruption.

Resolution

There are 2 ways to recognize installed Plesk Components:

1) Execute command:

 "%plesk_bin%"\\defpackagemng --get --force

2) The same command may be execute via Plesk GUI: Plesk->Tools&Settings -> Server components->Refresh

After that Plesk recognizes Bind as installed.
