Installation of microupdates has hanged: sysinit.target is queued

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.5 for Linux

Symptoms

Installation of microupdates on Debian 8 has hanged or failed.

When trying to restart sw-cp-server manually the following message appears:

sysinit.target is queued

An attempt to start sw-engine returns the following:

Failed to start sw-engine.target: Transaction is destructive.

In /var/log/syslog there are entries like these:

Oct 13 01:21:13 server19 systemd[1]: Looping too fast. Throttling execution a little.
Oct 13 01:21:14 server19 systemd[1]: Looping too fast. Throttling execution a little.
Oct 13 01:21:15 server19 systemd[1]: Looping too fast. Throttling execution a little.
Oct 13 01:21:17 server19 systemd[1]: Looping too fast. Throttling execution a little.

Resolution

Run the following command:

# systemctl daemon-reexec

Re-install microupdates:

plesk installer --select-release-current --reinstall-patch --upgrade-installed-components
