Restore from backup fails: deployer application missing

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.0 for Linux

Symptoms

Backup restoration fails:

Error:
Perhaps /usr/local/psa/admin/bin/deployer application missing, has incorrect permissions or unexpectedly terminated

The following message occurs in /var/log/messages during a backup restoration:

`example.com kernel: [20026484.264319] Out of memory in UB ####: OOM killed process ##### (deployer) score 0 vm:######kB, rss:1
######kB, swap:0kB`

Cause

Restoration procedure creates an internal array in result of tar -tvm -zf call, that consumed a lot of memory. Container issued a command to kill restoration processes due to the lack of memory. This is Plesk bug with ID #PPPM-5068 that is planned to be fixed in future Plesk updates.

Workaround

Increase RAM for the container and restart the restoration.
