Plesk shows that the system is up-to-date, but yum shows alot of packages must be updated

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.5 for Linux

Question

Why does Plesk show that the system is up-to-date, but yum update command shows alot of packages must be updated?

Answer

The "The system is up-to-date" message on Plesk Home page shows update status of Plesk packages, not operating system packages. This is why yum update command shows that there are a lot of packages that should be updated. The "yum update" command shows updates for the system packages.

Plesk updates only its own packages and system packages of the managed services: web, mail, database services and others. To update all operating system packages please contact your system administrator.
