Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.5 for Linux

Symptoms

Migration fails with the following error:

Failed to fetch basic information about resellers, clients and domains data from source servers
Cause: 'utf8' codec can't decode byte 0xfe in position 9: invalid start byte
That is a critical error, migration was stopped.

An amount of /root/.ssh/authorized_keys is huge:

# wc -l /root/.ssh/authorized_keys
504541 /root/.ssh/authorized_keys

Cause

This issue has been considered as software issue #PMT-2995 and will be fixed in future Plesk Migrator updates.

Workaround

  1. Move authorized_keys to another folder or rename it:

    # mv /root/.ssh/authorized_keys /root/.ssh/authorized_keys.old.1
  2. Make sure the amount is 0:

    # wc -l /root/.ssh/authorized_keys
    0 /root/.ssh/authorized_keys
