Not able to view a Plesk hosted website over Internet

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 11.x for Linux

Symptoms

Website example.com is successfully published, but is not accessible from Plesk on Amazon EC2.

DNS service is not available on server's main IP from public network:

# dig a example.com @203.0.113.2

; <<>> DiG 9.8.2rc1-RedHat-9.8.2-0.23.rc1.el6_5.1 <<>> a example.com @203.0.113.2
;; global options: +cmd
;; connection timed out; no servers could be reached
-bash-4.1#

DNS service is available on server's main IP from Plesk server ifself.

Cause

DNS port on the Plesk server is filtered by a firewall.

Resolution

Contact Amazon technical support regarding the issue and once the server's DNS port becomes accessible from the public network, domain will start loading fine. Adding UDP port 53 in AWS Security Groups may help to fix the issue.
