Unable to start Apache: Segmentation fault

Symptoms

Unable to start Apache:

#service httpd start
Starting httpd: [Sun Aug 16 21:20:15 2015] [warn] module security2_module is already loaded, skipping
[Sun Aug 16 21:20:15 2015] [warn] module unique_id_module is already loaded, skipping
/bin/bash: line 1: 1598 Segmentation fault (core dumped) /usr/sbin/httpd
[FAILED]

Cause

Two different Apache php modules are loaded simultaneously.

*.conf files are loaded by Apache in an alphabetical order, and php7 is loaded first:

# ls -al /etc/httpd/conf.d/*php*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1639 Aug 15 15:40 /etc/httpd/conf.d/atomic-php70-php.conf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 993 Aug 17 02:12 /etc/httpd/conf.d/php.conf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 93 May 26 2014 /etc/httpd/conf.d/php_cgi_wrapper.conf

Resolution

  1. Move /etc/httpd/conf.d/atomic-php70-php.conf to another location:

    #mv /etc/httpd/conf.d/atomic-php70-php.conf /root/
  2. Restart Apache:

    #service httpd restart
