How to backup or restore containers using an alternative location?

Below are several useful examples of the backup/restore functionality:

  1. This command restores container 100 from a custom backup location on the backup server named backup_server.example.org:

    vzarestore 100 --storage admin@backup_server.example.org --backup-folder-path /custom/backup/location
  2. This example shows the command to back up container 100 to a custom location:

    vzabackup --backup-folder-path /custom/backup/location localhost -e 100
  3. The following example shows how to restore a container backup to a specified container ID (with 150 being the target container):

    vzarestore -B -e 74d73784-ab7c-4b6c-9a87-83d4705d422a/20061207075121:150

Note: 74d73784-ab7c-4b6c-9a87-83d4705d422a/20061207075121 is the exact backup ID that can be obtained with vzarestore --list command

  4. The below command restores the last full backup of container 100 to container 150:

    vzarestore 100:150

Note: Restoration of containers under different IDs is supported by Parallels Containers for Windows only with PVA Agent 4.6.3 update 2 installed.
