Question

How to configure Passive FTP port range on Windows Server?

Answer

To configure Passive FTP mode use the following steps:

  1. Specify passive FTP port range in IIS Manager:

    • On the Connections pane, click the server-level node in the tree.
    • Go to FTP Firewall Support > Data Channel Port Range and insert needed port range.
    • Click Apply.

The default value of the Windows default dynamic port range is often 49152-65535 .

  2. Allow the connection in Windows Firewall for exactly the same port range as specified on the step 1.

  3. Restart Microsoft FTP Service:

net stop "Microsoft FTP Service" && net start "Microsoft FTP Service"
