Plesk shows HTTP Error 500.21 - Internal Server Error

Symptoms

Plesk for Windows fails to load and the following error is displayed in the browser:

HTTP Error 500.21 - Internal Server Error
Handler "PleskEngine-FastCGI-php" has a bad module "FastCgiModule" in its module list

Cause

CGI role is not installed in IIS server. There is no iisfcgi.dll in C:\\Windows\\System32\\inetsrv .

Resolution

  1. Open Server Manager, click Roles and install CGI role.

  2. Open IIS > Sites and delete PleskControlPanel .

  3. Open IIS > Application Pools and delete PleskControlPanel .

  4. Recreate PleskControlPanel site according to 111729 .
