[HOW TO] Create backups more than once a day

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.5 for Linux

Question

Is it possible to create server backups more than once a day?

Answer

Plesk Backup Manager does not allow to create backups more than once a day due to consuming much server resources. The steps bellow are performed on your own risk:

  1. Go to: Tools & Settings > Scheduled tasks > Add Task

  2. Add the command /usr/local/psa/bin/pleskbackup server

  3. Set the time, when backup creation should be started

  4. Ensure that the task is active

  5. Press OK

  6. Add the same task again, but change the time for the second task

NOTE: More information about pleskbackup utility is available in Administrator's Guide

IMPORTANT: Creation of a backup can take a lot of time depending on mail and website content volume. If the first backup is still running and it is already the time for the second backup task, the second one will not run. Due to this fact running server backup more than once a day may affect the server performance.
