Cause

MySQL programs read startup options from the following files, in the specified order:

  1. /etc/my.cnf
  2. /etc/mysql/my.cnf
  3. SYSCONFDIR/my.cnf
  4. $MYSQL_HOME/my.cnf

  6. ~/.my.cnf

The /root/.my.cnf file exits on the system.

Resolution

Plesk uses /etc/my.cnf , if any additional my.cnf exists, please rename it and restart MySQL:

# mv /root/.my.cnf{,.orig}
# /etc/init.d/mysqld restart
