Classic ASP with Microsoft Access Databases

Symptoms

Site with Classic ASP using Microsoft Access Databases is not working.I have enabled IIS failed request tracing and got:

in ASP_SCRIPT_TRACE_COM_CALL_END section:

FilePath="C:\\INETPUB\\VHOSTS\\DOMAIN.TLD\\HTTPDOCS\\INDEX.ASP", LineNumber="11", CurrentStatement="Conn.Open "DRIVER={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)}; DBQ=" & Server.MapPath("db/data.mdb")", SizeOfStatement="90"

in ASP_LOG_ERROR section:

Error LineNumber="11", ErrorCode="80004005", Description="[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified"

Cause

Microsoft Access Databases driver is not installed

Resolution

  1. Download and install 64-bit version of Microsoft Access Database Engine package on the Windows server available by the link
    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13255

  2. Modify driver name in connection string in .asp file

from

   `{Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)}`

to

  `{Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb, *.accdb)}`

3.  Ensure that ' psacln ' group have access permissions to the folder where the engine was installed.
