Questions regarding Complete Switching to the new Plesk business model

Applicable to:

  • Plesk

Question

Plesk was upgraded to 10.4 version or higher, but the Complete Switching to the new Plesk business model step was not performed. There are some questions regarding this step:

  1. Is there any documentation available that outlines options available on these steps in a straight forward way? Is there a recommended option?

  2. If something is selected incorrectly, is there any way to revert the changes?

  3. How long does this process take and is there any type of downtime generated by it?

  4. What happens if this step is not completed?

Answer

  1. Here is the documentation link regarding the question.

  2. We can suggest creating a server backup and MySQL backup before completing the transition to the new business model.

To back up data on a source server by means of Plesk user interface, follow the instructions in the Administrator's Guide, section Backing Up and Recovering Websites .

To back up all data on a source server by means of command-line utilities, issue the following command:

    # /usr/local/psa/bin/pleskbackup all <backup_file_name>

    Mysql backup:

    # mysqldump -uadmin -p`cat /etc/psa/.psa.shadow ` psa > /tmp/psadump.`date +%F_%H.%M`.sql
    # mysqldump -uadmin -p`cat /etc/psa/.psa.shadow ` --all-databases > /tmp/all.`date +%F_%H.%M`.sql
  3. There is no downtime; the time depends on subscriptions number, in average, it takes about 10 seconds per subscription.

  4. New business model has a number of significant changes for example, services are offered by means of service plans and subscriptions instead of templates and domains. So if the transition is not completed, limits, overuse will not work properly and subscription can be suspended incorrectly.
