Plesk is not accessible from outside.

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.0 for Windows
  • Plesk 12.0 for Linux
  • Plesk 12.5 for Windows

Symptoms

Plesk is not accessible from outside using the following link:

https://cp.domain.tld:8443

IP address, which is set up for installation of Plesk, is like the following:

mysql> select id, serviceNodeId, ip_address, mask from IP_Addresses;
+----+---------------+--------------+-------------+
| id | serviceNodeId | ip_address | mask |
+----+---------------+--------------+-------------+
| 1 | 1 | 10.39.87.173 | 255.255.0.0 |
+----+---------------+--------------+-------------+

Also, domain name "cp.domain.tld" can not be resolved from outside.

Cause

IP address, which is set up for the Plesk installation, is from internal network addresses pool, which is hidden behind NAT and is not accessible from the outside.

Resolution

The following IP addresses are reserved for private networks, as published in RFC 1918 :

RFC1918 name IP address range
24-bit block 10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255
20-bit block 172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
16-bit block 192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255

To make Plesk accessible from the outside, mapping rule should be configured on edge firewall. Please contact your system administrator to configure NAT properly.
