Unable to access Mailing List in Plesk: forbidden/permission denied

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.5 for Linux

Symptoms

  1. Unable to access Mailing List in Plesk at http://lists.example.com/mailman/admin/<maillist_name> :

    Forbidden. You don't have permission to access /mailman/admin/plesktest on this server.
  2. The following error is shown in Apache error log:

    [error] [client 203.0.113.2] client denied by server configuration: /usr/lib/cgi-bin/mailman/admin
  3. The following entries are un-commented in /etc/apache2/conf.d/security file:

    <Directory />
    AllowOverride None
    Order Deny,Allow
    Deny from all
    </Directory>

Cause

Custom settings are defined in /etc/apache2/conf.d/security file

Resolution

Add the following directive in /etc/apache2/conf.d/security file:

<Directory /usr/lib/cgi-bin/mailman>
AllowOverride None
Order Deny,Allow
Allow from all
</Directory>
