VPS license doesn't work in KVM: The license key is invalid. In order to use Plesk, you need to obtain and install a new valid license key

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.5 for Linux
  • Plesk 12.0 for Linux

Symptoms

  1. Attempt to open Plesk interface or update a license key on the virtual server results an error:

    Error: The license key is invalid. In order to use Plesk, you need to obtain and install a new valid license key.
    The license key is intended only for use with Plesk operating inside the following virtual environments: Virtuozzo containers, VMWare, Microsoft Hyper-V, Xen, KVM, Virtuozzo Server, LXC, Docker.
  2. BIOS data is IBMPlex86/Bochs :

Cause

Such behavior is known as software issue with id #PPPM-3575 . The issue has been fixed in Plesk 12.5 MU#21 .

Resolution

Apply latest Plesk microupdates .
