FTP user and permissions issue

Symptoms

When I browse domain in Internet Explorer, I got the error:

HTTP Error 401.3 - Unauthorized
You do not have permission to view this directory or page because of the access control list (ACL) configuration or encryption settings for this resource on the Web server.

Cause

Possible reasons:

  1. File .Security is broken.

  2. Domain permissions were modified in IIS directly.

Resolution

  1. Find .Security file under domain directory C:\\inetpub\\vhosts\\domain.com .

  2. Make sure that .Security size is not 0Kb. Approximate size of this file is about 23KB.

  3. If you see that size is less than 23KB, rename this file.

  4. Reconfigure domain with command:

        "%plesk_bin%"\\websrvmng --reconfigure-vhost –vhost-name=domain.com
  5. File .Security will be created automatically after reconfiguration.
