Unable to upgrade Plesk: sh getcwd() failed: No such file or directory

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 11.0 for Linux
  • Plesk 12.0 for Linux

Symptoms

Plesk upgrade failed with the following errors:

***** problem report *****
ERROR while trying to upgrade APSC SQL database from 11.1.0
Check the error reason(see log file: /var/log/plesk/install/plesk_12.5.30_installation.log), fix and try again
sh: 0: getcwd() failed: No such file or directory
Error: An error occurred during performing of installation PREP actions (see log for details). Installation was rolled back.
Warning! Not all packages were installed.
Please check if your system services are operable.
Please resolve this issue and try installing the packages again.
If you cannot resolve the issue on your own, contact product technical support for assistance

Cause

Missing or incorrect link for libaps.so.1 :

# locate libaps.so.1
/usr/lib/libaps.so.1
/usr/lib/libaps.so.1.0

# ls -l /usr/lib/ | grep libaps.so.1
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 22 Jul 10 15:06 libaps.so.1 -> libaps.so.1.0.dpkg-tmp
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 9784304 Jun 25 13:06 libaps.so.1.0

Resolution

  1. Correct the link for libaps.so.1 :

    # unlink /usr/lib/libaps.so.1
    # ln -s /usr/lib/libaps.so.1.0 /usr/lib/libaps.so.1
  2. Restart psa service:

    # service psa restart
  3. Rerun the upgrade.
