PHPMyAdmin SQL import error: Ending quote ' was expected

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.5 for Linux

Symptoms

Unable to import database in phpMyAdmin:

    Error
Static analysis:
1 errors were found during analysis.
Ending quote ' was expected. (near "" at position 88416)
#1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ''

Cause

This is a software issue in phpMyAdmin that was reported here:

https://github.com/phpmyadmin/phpmyadmin/issues/12054

It is planned to be fixed in the next phpMyAdmin release: 4.6.0

An internal request has been created from Plesk side to track the software issue #PPPM-4243

Workaround

Export and then import database in Domains > example.com > Databases menu.

    You can either:

    • replace ''\', or
    • import via mysql.exe:
    • mysql -uuser -ppass dbName < file.sql

    Hi Abdul,

    Thanks for the additional workaround, however, it often happens that there are a lot of such symbols in a database.

    So, it is easier to just export/import the database via Plesk interface.
