IPv6 addresses are not added to /etc/network/interfaces file

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.5 for Linux

Symptoms

When adding IPv6 through the Plesk, IPv6 addresses are not being added to the /etc/network/interfaces file with the result, that on server reboot the IPv6 is not available and services fail to start.

Cause

This is Plesk internal issue with ID #PPPM-4717 , that is planned to be fixed in future Plesk updates.

Workarounds

  1. Add IPv6 address to the server first, then add it to Plesk: Tools & Settings > IP Addresses > Reread IP .

  2. Add IPv6 address using command-line interface. For example:

    # plesk bin ipmanage --create 203.0.113.2 -type shared -mask 255.255.255.0 -interface venet0
SUCCESS: IP address '203.0.113.2' created successfully.
