problem to access Plesk Panel

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 9.x and below for Linux

Symptoms

Plesk upgrade from 8.6 to 9.5.4 fails with error:

ERROR 1064 (42000) at line 5: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'TYPE=InnoDB' at line 6
ERROR 1064 (42000) at line 1: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'innodb status' at line 1

Cause

Mysql higher than 5.0 is installed. Plesk 9.5 supports Mysql 5.0. Command 'innodb status' will not work in Mysql 5.1:

mysql> show innodb status;
ERROR 1064 (42000): You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'innodb status' at line 1

Resolution

Check mysql version:

    mysql -V

If Mysql version is higher than 5.0, as workaround upgrade Plesk Panel to version 10.4, where such issue does not exist, otherwise downgrade mysql to version 5.0 and launch Plesk upgrade again.
