Umlauts/accented letters are not properly shown on a website.
All the content is stored in MySQL database.
MySQL character set and collation are set to UTF-8.
The website is also using UTF-8.
MySQL is using another collation during SELECT queries.
- Connect to the server via SSH or RDP
Add the following line to MySQL configuration file in [mysqld] section:
MySQL configuration file can be found in the following locations:
init-connect='SET NAMES utf8'
On Debian/Ubuntu -
On RHEL/CentOS/CloudLinux -
On Plesk Onyx for Windows -
On Plesk 12.* for Windows -
- Restart MySQL service.
