Creating domain with hosting fails with error: hosting update is failed

Symptoms

  1. Plesk shows error when creating a new domain or changing domain's hosting type:

    Error: hosting update is failed: vhostmng-content failed: failed to copy file '/var/www/vhosts/.skel/0' to '/usr/local/psa/tmp/agent137acd1c2205108da51330c6267b94e9/0'
  2. Plesk log /var/log/plesk/panel.log contains the following:

    ERR [1] Exception: PHP Warning: symlink(): Permission denied; File: /usr/local/psa/admin/plib/Service/Agent/Transport/Local/Put.php, Line: 25
  3. OS version is CloudLinux 6 (kernel 2.6.32-604.16.2.lve1.3.45) and greater:

    # cat /var/log/yum.log | grep kernel-2.6.32-604
    Installed: kernel-2.6.32-604.30.3.lve1.3.63.el6.x86_64

Cause

User psaadm is prevented to create symlinks after the installation new kernel. Please check CloudLinux Documentation for more details.

Resolution

  1. Disable fs.protected_symlinks_create option:

    # vi /etc/sysctl.conf
    .....
    # CageFS
    fs.protected_symlinks_create = 0
    .....
  2. Apply the changes:

    # sysctl -p
