- Plesk 10.3 for Windows
- Plesk 10.4 for Windows
- Plesk 11.5 for Linux
- Plesk 12.0 for Windows
- Plesk 10.3 for Linux
Since Plesk Panel version 10.4, you can upload backups from an old Plesk version in Plesk GUI and they will be automatically converted.
Backup created with Plesk Panel versions 7.x, 8.x, and 9.x cannot be restored in Plesk Panel version 10.x.
Old backup should be converted to version 10.x.
The backup format is converted to version 10.x automatically when you upload old backup through Plesk Panel 10.x into the server backup repository ( Tools&Utilities > Backup Manager > Upload Files to Server Repository ) or into the personal backup repository through the Control Panel ( Websites&Domains > Backup Manager > Upload Files to Server Repository ).
After backup is uploaded, it can be restored through the GUI the usual way: find the backup in the server repository, click the backup name, fill in all conflict resolution rules, and then Restore
If you wish to restore old backup manually with the utility pleskrestore , it needs to be converted to version 10.x. Using the schema below, old backup may be converted to version 10.x since version 7.0 of Plesk for Unix/Linux and since version 7.5 of Plesk for Windows.
To convert old backup to version 10.2, you need to login to Plesk 10.2 server as a root/administrator. Use the following schema for the conversion of old backups:
Plesk 10.2 for Unix utilities are located in the directory $PRODUCT_ROOT_D /bin
To convert dump from Plesk version < 8.x:
To convert dump from < 9.x :
pre9-backup-convert -> pre10-backup-convert
To convert dump from <=10.1 :
Plesk 10.2 for Windows utilities are located in the directory $PRODUCT_ROOT_D/admin/bin
To convert dump from < 9.x :
pre9-backup-convert.exe -> pre10-backup-convert.exe
To convert dump from < =10.1 : pre10-backup-convert.exe *
*** backup created with Plesk Panel 10.0 an 10.1 also should be converted to version 10.2.
In both platforms instead of converting old backup with several convention utilities, you may use the single utility
/admin/bin/pmm-ras with command
Steps to convert old backup created with Plesk Panel 7.x to 10.2 for Unix/Linux:

# /usr/local/psa/bin/pre10-backup-convert --convert -source /storage/fullServerDump9/converted_info_1102010019.xml -destination /var/lib/psa/dumps

"%plesk_bin%\\pre10-backup-convert.exe" --convert -source C:\\Backup\\fullServerDump9\\converted_info_1102010019.xml -destination C:\\Program Files\\Parallels\\Plesk\\Backup
Here is a single command to convert old backup created with Plesk Panel 7.x to 10.2:
# /usr/local/psa/admin/bin/pmm-ras --import-file-as-dump --dump-file-specification=/path/to/dump --dump-storage=/var/lib/psa/dumps/ --guid=00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 --type=server --session-path=/usr/local/psa/PMM/logs
--dump-file-specification - path to dump
--dump-storage – path to output directory
--guid – owner GUID. When run from console may be all 0
--type – owner type
--session-path – path to directory with logs
Note that you do not need to convert old backup to version 10.x if uploading it through Plesk Panel. Backup is converted automatically when uploading into the server repository.
The client's backup is visible in the client's personal repository only ( Control Panel > Websites&Domains > Backup Manager > Server Repository ).
The client's backup uploaded into the server repository ( Tools&Utilities > Backup Manager ) is not visible if the client is missing in Plesk Panel 10.
To restore such a dump, the admin should create a client with the same login name.
Then change to Control Panel of the client and restore it through Websites&Domains > Backup Manager .
Restoring from the FTP repository is free of such a limitation.
The customer can restore only existing subscriptions.
