Deferral notifications are sent every day: unable to update license, some features can be unavailable

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.5 for Linux
  • Plesk Onyx for Linux

Symptoms

  1. Plesk is activated by Plesk Plus (Purchased) license type. It has Kaspersky (KAV) and Unity Mobile (APS) additional licenses.

  2. The following messages are sent to admin's email every day on Daily Maintenance task completion:

    Unable to update KAV123456781234: an error occurred while processing your key. You can try to retrieve the key manually in Plesk (Tools & Settings > License Management) or let Plesk try to update it in the next 24 hours. If you do not want to receive this notification any more, remove this key from Plesk. 
    The license key is expired. Some features can be unavailable. Please contact your hosting provider.
  3. Kaspersky is not installed: it was removed from Plesk via autoinstaller.

Cause

This is Plesk internal issue with ID #PPPM-3933 , which is planned to be fixed in future Plesk updates.

Workaround

Apply a custom fix:

  1. Download and unzip attached file handlers

  2. Back up old key-handler.php and ApsKeyHandler.php :

    # cp /usr/lib64/plesk-9.0/key-handler /usr/lib64/plesk-9.0/key-handler_backup

    # cp /usr/local/psa/admin/plib/Smb/Application/Cli/ApsKeyHandler.php /usr/local/psa/admin/plib/Smb/Application/Cli/ApsKeyHandler.php_backup
  3. Replace old file with the downloaded one:

    # cp key-handler /usr/lib64/plesk-9.0/key-handler

    # cp ApsKeyHandler.php /usr/local/psa/admin/plib/Smb/Application/Cli/ApsKeyHandler.php
  4. Remove additional keys in Plesk at Tools & Setting > License Management > Additional

  5. Retrieve the license
