Migration fails: TCP channel protocol violation

Symptoms:

Error: Connection to host is not available or migration agent is not running on the source host

In the migration logs (C:\Program Files (x86)\Parallels\Plesk\PMM\logs\migration_handler.log), the following error appears:

    <execution-result status="error">
<message severity="error">
<description />
<message severity="error">
<description>Tcp channel protocol violation: expecting preamble.</description>
</message>
</message>
</execution-result>
== STDOUT ====================
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
....
<errcode>3012</errcode>
<errmsg>Connection to host is not available or migration agent is not running on the source host</errmsg>

Resolution:

  1. Make sure that the guidelines from the following article are applied: /213958185

  2. Configure the ChannelType value to HTTP at 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Parallels\PleskMigrationAgent\WINAgentMng.exe.config' on the source server and 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Parallels\Plesk\PMM\Migration\migrmng.exe.config' on the destination file.

Cause

The TCP connection between the servers is unstable without encapsulating to HTTP.
