Cannot rebuild awstats statistics: History file is corrupted

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 11.0 for Windows
  • Plesk 11.5 for Windows

Symptoms

Cannot rebuild awstats statistics:

C:\\Users\\Administrator>"%plesk_bin%\\statistics.exe" --process-domains=DOMAIN.TLD --from-date="2013/01/01" --verbose
Save FTP logs 2: '' HTTP logs 2: '' mail logs 2: ''
Create/Update database for config "C:\\plesk\\Additional\\AWStats\\wwwroot\\cgi-bin/awstats.DOMAIN.TLD.conf" by AWStats version 7.1.1 (build 1.
989)
From data in log file "\\\\?\\C:\\Users\\ADMINI~1\\AppData\\Local\\Temp\\2\\{stat-5d7a07f5-ff32-11e2-bf6d-20cf30670963}\ mp9FBE.tmp"...
Phase 1 : First bypass old records, searching new record...
Direct access to last remembered record has fallen on another record.
So searching new records from beginning of log file...
Phase 2 : Now process new records (Flush history on disk after 20000 hosts)...
Error: History file "D:\\vhosts\\DOMAIN.TLD\\statistics\\webstat/awstats122012.m.weml.co.uk.txt" is corrupted (End of section OS not found).
Restore a recent backup of this file (data for this month will be restored to backup date), remove it (data for month will be lost), or remove the corrupted section in file (data for at least this section will be lost).

Cause

File "C:\\vhosts\\DOMAIN.TLD\\statistics\\webstat\\awstats122012.domain.tld.txt" is broken.

Resolution

There are three possible cases:

  • Restore a recent backup of this file (data for this month will be restored to backup date)
  • Remove it (data for month will be lost)
  • Remove the corrupted section in file (data for at least this section will be lost).

Then run the utility again:

C:\\Users\\Administrator>"%plesk_bin%\\statistics.exe" --process-domains=DOMAIN.TLD --from-date="2013/01/01" --verbose
