Apache fails to start: Syntax error on line 12: Include directory not found

Symptoms

Apache fails to start with the error message similar to below:

# apachectl -t
httpd: Syntax error on line 221 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf: Syntax error on line 6 of /etc/httpd/conf.d/zz010_psa_httpd.conf: Syntax error on line 12 of /etc/httpd/conf/plesk.conf.d/horde.conf: Include directory '/etc/httpd/conf/plesk.conf.d/webmails/horde' not found

Cause

Specified directory does not exist:

# ls -al /etc/httpd/conf/plesk.conf.d/webmails/horde
ls: cannot access
/etc/httpd/conf/plesk.conf.d/webmails/horde: No such file or directory

Resolution

1. Create the directory manually:

# mkdir -p /etc/httpd/conf/plesk.conf.d/webmails/horde

2. Start apache service:

# service apache2 start
