Error in Plesk: ERROR: Allowed memory size of X bytes exhausted (tried to allocate Y bytes)

Applicable to:

  • Web Presence Builder for Linux
  • Plesk

Symptoms

The following error message appears in Plesk interface:

ERROR: Allowed memory size of 16777216 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 86 bytes)

Cause

Operation requires more memory than allowed for Plesk's PHP backend. This may happen if object on which operation was executed has a complex structure.

Resolution

Increase memory_limit in Plesk's PHP configuration file:

  • " /usr/local/psa/admin/conf/php.ini " on Linux
  • " %plesk_dir% \\admin\\conf\\php.ini " on Windows

After changes are applied, restart Plesk control panel:

  • Execute the following command on Linux:

    # service psa restart
  • Go to Start > Services > Plesk SQL Server > Restart on Windows
