How to enable Python support in Plesk on CentOS 7

Applicable to:

  • Plesk for Linux

Symptoms

It is not possible to execute Python scripts on a server with CentOS 7 . There is no option 'Python support' in domain's Hosting Settings.

Cause

Python modules for Apache are no longer supported by httpd project according to the Apache official website

Resolution

Note: we cannot guarantee workaround stability since python officially is not supported on Centos 7

  1. Install mod_python from third-party resource:

    # wget http://repo.iotti.biz/CentOS/7/noarch/lux-release-7-1.noarch.rpm
    # rpm -Uvh lux-release*rpm
    # yum install mod_python
  2. Refresh Plesk components with " Tools & Settings > Server Components > Refresh ";

  3. Check 'Python support' checkbox in the Hosting parameters of service plan;

  4. Check 'Python support' checkbox in the Hosting settings of domain.
