Unable to add mail account in Outlook: Your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server has reported an internal error

  • Plesk 12.0 for Windows
  • Plesk 12.0 for Linux

Symptoms

Unable to add mail account in Outlook, the following error appears:

Send test e-mail message: Your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server has reported an internal error. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).  The server responded: 451 4.7.1 Service unavailable - try again later

Following error can be found in /var/log/maillog :

Cause

Greylisting spam protection "temporarily reject" any email from a sender it does not recognize.

Resolution

Disable greylisting spam protection for domain, add new account to Outlook after that enable greylisting spam protection :

Subscriptions > domain.tld > Mail > Mail Settings > Activate/Deactivate Services
