After creating the new subdomain it is showing error while accessing to file manager. Unable to change directory to //site1: Directory does not exist.

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 11.0 for Windows
  • Plesk 10.x and below for Linux

Symptoms

After creating the new subdomain, it is showing error while accessing to file manager

Error: Unable to change directory to //site1: Directory does not exist.

Cause

Check the skeleton directory "%plesk_vhosts%"/.skel if it is empty. This is the default folder to create new domains and subdomains.

Resolution

Copy the contents of "%plesk_vhosts%"/.skel directory from any other similar Plesk server or create it manually:

  1. Create the required directories: (allowed directories are: httpdocs, conf, cgi-bin, anon_ftp, and error_docs):

    %plesk_vhosts%\\.skel
    %plesk_vhosts%\\.skel\\0
    %plesk_vhosts%\\.skel\\0\\error_docs
    %plesk_vhosts%\\.skel\\0\\httpdocs
    %plesk_vhosts%\\.skel\\0\\httpdocs\\css
    %plesk_vhosts%\\.skel\\0\\httpdocs\\img
    %plesk_vhosts%\\.skel\\0\\httpdocs\ est
  2. Place the necessary files into the directories. These files will appear in the corresponding directories of each domain that will be created and set up on physical hosting.

  3. Apply security settings for the directories :

    "%plesk_bin%\\ApplySecurity.exe" --apply-to-directory --directory="%plesk_vhosts%\\.skel"

Recreate the subdomain in which you are getting errors, it should create without any issue.
