Sites show up as a blank page with nginx

Symptoms

Sites display blank page if Nginx is enabled on the server.

Cause

Apache module Pagespeed is enabled.

Resolution

  1. Verify if the mod_pagespeed is loaded:

    # apachectl -M | grep pagespeed
    Syntax OK
    mod_pagespeed (shared)

    (use apache2ctl for Debian)

  2. Disable Apache mod_pagespeed: set ModPagespeed off in the module configuration file /etc/httpd/conf.d/pagespeed.conf ( /etc/apache2/mods-available/pagespeed.conf for Debian).

    # grep ModPagespeed pagespeed.conf
    ModPagespeed off
