How to reconfigure domain to default settings

Symptoms

On occasion, a customer performs manual changes on a domain in IIS, or deletes it. As a result, the domain does not work. How can you reconfigure the domain to the default Plesk settings or restore it in IIS?

Resolution

  1. If the domain exists in IIS , create a backup of the domain configuration with this command:

    %windir%\\system32\\inetsrv\\appcmd list site /name:domain.com /config /xml > c:\ emp\\domain_conf.xml
  2. Execute the following command in the command line to restore domain settings:

    "%plesk_cli%\\repair.exe" --reconfigure-web-site -web-site-name example.com

If the domain is absent or was deleted in IIS, this command will recreate the domain with all Plesk hosting settings, bindings and physical path.
