Question
How to check that SpamAssassin is protecting a Plesk server from spam?
Answer
-
Make sure that the SpamAssassin service is running at Tools & Settings > Services Management.
-
Make sure that the Switch on spam filtering for this email address option is enabled at Domains > example.com > Email Addresses > john_doe@example.com > Spam Filter tab.
-
Test SpamAssassin using the steps from this KB article. When SpamAssasin detects spam, the following messages appears in
/usr/local/psa/var/log/maillog
(can be checked via an SSH connection only):CONFIG_TEXT: spamd[1107]: spamd: identified spam (1000.0/7.0) for test@domain.tld:110 in 6.1 seconds, 3926 bytes.
If all the above steps are successful - SpamAssassin is working fine.

Hello Support
Please, make sure it's installed: https://support.plesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/115004007533
I'm using Obsidian 18.0.43
I don't see "Spam Filter" as a tab for individual user emails. Spam Assassin is turned on in my Tools & Settings.
I'm seeing lots of SPAM that was getting through on account. (We previously used Google Suite for email and all that SPAM was blocked, but now it seems to all be pouring in.)
I also tested it by sending the Spam test body:
XJS*C4JDBQADN1.NSBN3*2IDNEN*GTUBE-STANDARD-ANTI-UBE-TEST-EMAIL*C.34X
From my person gmail account to an account our our server. Nothing in the headers indicates that Spam Assassin processed the incoming email.
Hey there Phil Glau
To make the "Spam Filter" tab available for individual email accounts, switch on "Apply individual settings to spam filtering" at Tools & Settings > Spam Filter.
If SpamAssasin is not working on your server as expected for some reason, I'd suggest to submit a request to Plesk Technical Support for troubleshooting.
