Unable to login to Plesk after installing a new license: start up screen appears that suggests to create the first webspace

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.5 for Linux
  • Plesk 12.5 for Windows

Symptoms

After re-activating Plesk with a Web Admin or Web App license, it is Plesk start up screen appears that suggests to specify the domain name of the first webspace:

The amount of subscriptions may be less that it was prior to installing the new license.

Cause

Server administrator does not have any subscriptions and Web Admin and Web App licenses do not support managing subscriptions that belong to customers or resellers.

Resolution

Use any of the following solutions:

  1. Re-activate Plesk with Web Host or Web Pro edition licenses that support resellers and customers management

  2. Change the owner of the customer's subscriptions to admin using the following command:

        # plesk bin subscription --change-owner example.com -owner admin
  4. For Windows

        "%plesk_cli%"\\subscription.exe --change-owner example.com -owner admin
  5. Change IP type from "dedicated" to "shared":

    # plesk bin ipmanage --update 10.10.10.10 -type shared
  6. Add new IP on a server (either a dedicated or shared) and create a subscription on that IP that belongs to an admin:

    # plesk bin ipmanage --create 20.20.20.20 -type exclusive -mask 255.255.0.0 -interface "eth0"
    # plesk bin subscription --create example.com -owner admin -service-plan "Default Domain" -ip 20.20.20.20 -login JDoe -passwd "userpass"
