Web server reconfiguration fails: JkWorkersFile only allowed once

Applicable to:

  • Plesk for Linux

Symptoms

When applying web server reconfiguration in Plesk , it fails with this error:

Starting httpd: Syntax error on line 87 of /usr/local/psa/admin/conf/generated/13273049690.92094900_server.include:
JkWorkersFile only allowed once
[FAILED]

Cause

This error is caused by the JkWorkersFile directive that has been manually added to the Apache configuration.

For example:

# cat /etc/httpd/conf.d/jk.conf
<IfModule mod_jk.c>
JkWorkersFile /usr/share/tomcat5/conf/workers.properties
JkLogFile /var/log/httpd/mod_jk.log
JkLogLevel info
JkLogStampFormat "[%a %b %d %H:%M:%S %Y] "
</IfModule>

Resolution

Plesk 10.4.4 and later versions has a built-in support for mod_jk.

Comment all customized mod_jk directives in Apache configurations, and reconfigure settings with the following command:

# /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/httpdmng --reconfigure-all
WARNING: Execution of the command above can cause a downtime of the websites in case if there are a big number of domains hosted on the server (about 500 and more)
