Web server reconfiguration fails with error: "JkWorkersFile only allowed once"

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.5 for Linux
  • Plesk 10.4 for Linux

Symptoms

When applying web server reconfiguration in Parallels Plesk Panel , it fails with this error:

Starting httpd: Syntax error on line 87 of /usr/local/psa/admin/conf/generated/13273049690.92094900_server.include:
JkWorkersFile only allowed once
[FAILED]

Cause

This error is caused by a JkWorkersFile directive that was manually added to the Apache configuration. Parallels Plesk Panel 9.x had no built-in support for the mod_jk plugin, so it was necessary to add mod_jk directives to Apache configurations manually to make Java applications available.For example:

# cat /etc/httpd/conf.d/jkzz.conf
<IfModule mod_jk.c>
JkWorkersFile /usr/share/tomcat5/conf/workers.properties
JkLogFile /var/log/httpd/mod_jk.log
JkLogLevel info
JkLogStampFormat "[%a %b %d %H:%M:%S %Y] "
</IfModule>

Parallels Plesk Panel 10.4.4 has built-in support for mod_jk . However, previously configured settings can lead to failed Apache configuration re-generation during and after an upgrade procedure.

Resolution

Comment all customized mod_jk directives in Apache configurations, and reconfigure settings with the following command:

# /usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/httpdmng --reconfigure-all
