The website, or the website preview, shows a default Plesk page or one of the following errors is shown:
CONFIG_TEXT: 404 Not Found error
CONFIG_TEXT: 403 Forbidden
CONFIG_TEXT: Server Error
You do not have permission to access this document.
CONFIG_TEXT: Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server
CONFIG_TEXT: HTTP Error 403.14 - Forbidden
The Web Server is configured to not lost the contents of this directory
Most likely causes:
A default document is not configured for the requested URL, and directory browsing is not enabled on the server.
One of the following errors might appear in the file
CONFIG_TEXT: [error] 2010#0: *1943 open() "/var/www/vhosts/example.com/httpdocs/index.html" failed (2: No such file or directory), client: 203.0.113.2, server: ba hostname.com, request: "GET / HTTP/1.1", upstream: "http://203.0.113.100:7080/", host: "hostname.com"
CONFIG_TEXT: [error] [client 203.0.113.2] Directory index forbidden by Options directive: /var/www/vhosts/example.com/httpdocs/
CONFIG_TEXT: [autoindex:error] [pid 9229:tid 139639044146944] [client 203.0.113.2:59328] AH01276: Cannot serve directory /var/www/vhosts/example.com/httpdocs/: No matching DirectoryIndex (index.html,index.shtml,index.cfm,index.php,index.htm,index.php) found, and server-generated directory index forbidden by Options directive
The following error might be present in the file
CONFIG_TEXT: *850866 directory index of "/var/www/vhosts/example.com/httpdocs/" is forbidden, server: plesk.example.com, request: "GET / HTTP/1.1", host: "plesk.example.com"
The index file (
index.html, index.php, etc) is missing in Domains > example.com > File Manager or has the custom name.
The index file is missing in the domain directory or it has a custom name.
Go to Domains > example.com > File Manager
Make sure that the index file (
index.html, index.php, etc) has the proper name and the document root is set correctly in Domains > example.com > Hosting Settings.
Warning: on Plesk for Linux servers, a name of index files is case-sensitive.
If the index file does not exist:
Create an index file
- Domains > example.com > Apache & nginx Settings in Plesk for Linux.
- Domains > example.com > IIS Settings in Plesk for Windows.
Note: If the menu listed above is not shown, the server administrator prohibited using it. Contact the server administrator to apply the solution.
Add the name of the custom index file:
- Plesk for Linux: set the parameter Index files to Enter custom value and add the name of the custom index file to the appeared field.
- Plesk for Windows: set the parameter Default documents to Enter values and add the name of the custom index file to the appeared field.
Click OK in the bottom of the page to save the changes.
