Unable to access Jails list of Fail2Ban: ERROR: f2bmng: No option 'enabled' in section

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.5 for Linux
  • Plesk Onyx for Linux
  • Plesk 12.0 for Windows
  • Plesk 12.0 for Linux

Symptoms

Unable to access Tools & Settings > IP Address Banning (Fail2Ban) > Jails :

PLESK_ERROR: Internal error: f2bmng failed: ERROR:f2bmng:No option 'enabled' in section: 'ssh-iptables'
Message f2bmng failed: ERROR:f2bmng:No option 'enabled' in section: 'ssh-iptables'
File Agent.php
Line 217
Type PleskUtilException

The issue may occur when trying to create a domain or subdomain in Plesk:

PLESK_ERROR: Error: hosting update is failed: f2bmng failed: ERROR:f2bmng:No option 'enabled' in section: 'ssh-iptables'

PLESK_ERROR: Internal error: f2bmng failed: ERROR:f2bmng:No option 'enabled' in section: 'ssh-iptables'
Message f2bmng failed: ERROR:f2bmng:No option 'enabled' in section: 'ssh-iptables'
File Agent.php
Line 217
Type PleskUtilException

The section name can be different, e.g. it can be ' ssh-iptables ', ' mysqld-iptables ', etc.

Cause

There is no " enabled " option in fail2ban configuration files for the corresponding section.

Resolution

For example, the issue is with ' ssh-iptables ' section. In order to fix the issue, check if ' ssh-iptables ' section is present in /etc/fail2ban/jail.local file. If it is present, add ' enabled = true ' to this section, it should look like:

CONFIG_TEXT: [ssh-iptables]
enabled = true
......

If there is no such section in ' /etc/fail2ban/jail.local ', check it in ' /etc/fail2ban/jail.conf ' and ' /etc/fail2ban/jail.d/plesk.conf '.

Once fail2ban configuration file is modified, run the following command:

# service fail2ban reload
