[How to] Update or rebuild all DNS zones and records in the /etc/named.conf at once?

Question

How to update or rebuild DNS configuration file /etc/named.conf and zone files of domains?

Answer

Use repair -r utility for Plesk 11.5 and later:

# /usr/local/psa/bin/repair --help

Usage: repair.sh repair.sh command [options]
Available commands:
--run or -r Restores configuration files of web,
mail and DNS servers.
...

For Plesk 11.0 and earlier, follow the steps below:

  1. Download the attached script dns_rebuild.sh

  2. Unpack it:

    # tar -xvf dns_rebuild.tar
  3. Make it executable:

    # chmod +x dns_update.sh
  4. Execute the script:

    # ./dns_update.sh
  5. Restart DNS service:

    # /etc/init.d/named restart

Note: in Debian/Ubuntu DNS service's name is bind9
