Apache is down after CA sertificates was removed

Symptoms

CA certificate was removed using Plesk GUI:

Plesk > domains > example.com > Websites & Domains > secure your site > certificate_name > press remove

After that apache is not able to start:

# service httpd start
Starting httpd: Syntax error on line 56 of /var/www/vhosts/example.com/conf/14410094520.45554000_httpd.include:
SSLCACertificateFile: file '/usr/local/psa/var/certificates/cert-Eb0hQK' does not exist or is empty

Cause

This issue has been considered as software issue #PPPM-3230 and was fixed in Plesk 12.0.18 version.

Resolution

  1. Add new certificate parts (server and\or CA) either as files or as text:

    Plesk > domains > example.com > Websites & Domains > secure your site > certificate_name

Plesk will ask if you want to replace existing certificate - click yes and restart apache.

    If it doesn't help:

  2. Disable SSL support for domain:

    Plesk > domains > example.com > Websites & Domains > Hosting Settings

  3. Restart apache and reconfigure domain:

    # service httpd start
    #/usr/local/psa/admin/sbin/httpdmng --reconfigure-domain example.com
  4. Enable SSL support and upload SSL certificate to the site.
