Unable to delete domain: Unable to open process token: (5) Access is denied

Symptoms

When attempting to delete a domain from Plesk the following error message is displayed:

Unable to open process token: (5) Access is denied.

Symantec Antivirus is installed on the server.

Cause

Tamper protection of Symantec Antivirus conflicts with Plesk.

Tamper Protection provides real-time protection for Symantec applications running on servers and clients. It prevents Symantec processes and internal objects from being attacked or affected by non-Symantec processes such as worms, Trojan horses, viruses, and security risks.

Resolution

  1. Disable Symantec Antivirus Tamper protection.
  2. Run Plesk Reconfigurator > Repair Plesk installation > Plesk File Security & Plesk Virtual Host Security
