Cannot reset password for email account:
PLESK_ERROR: mailmng failed: MEAOAU.Login.AddLogin failed for name= and domain example.com [example.com]
Duplicate entries are present in
%plesk_dir%\\Mail Servers\\Mail Enable\\Config\\AUTH.TAB
According to MailEnable KB , there are three possible reasons:
A control panel application is directly editing the configuration files or has an error that is leading to the contents of the file being deleted. This contention can lead to corruption/data loss
Some resident/realtime antivirus protection products may causes contention/corruption where the server is under load. Some antivirus agents intercept the changes to the file, potentially causing contention issues.
File contention can occur where a large number of users attempt to make configuration changes concurrently. In this case, there are some settings that can be applied to increase the timeout period. This could occur when hosting over 5000-10,000 mailboxes.
Also issue with changing password may appears due to MailEnable security policy.
For example, in case if the issue is related to antivirus interference:
- Connect to the server via RDP.
Add the following folder into antivirus real-time protection exclusions list:
%plesk_dir%\\Mail Servers\\Mail Enable\\Config\\
Manually remove duplicate entries from
%plesk_dir%\\Mail Servers\\Mail Enable\\Config\\AUTH.TAB, do not forget to create a backup.
- Rename mailbox with help of MailEnable RenameMailBox (for example 'info' > "info_new')
- Create a new mailbox via MailEnable with old name ('info')
- Reset password for mailbox ('info') in Plesk
- Move all content from
"%plesk_dir%\\Mail Servers\\Mail Enable\\Postoffices\\domain.tld\\MAILROOT\\info_new"to
In case of MailEnable security policy, check the following:
In the MailEnable Administration console, navigate to Servers > localhost
Right-click on " localhost " and access the " Properties " window
Go to the " Policies " tab and disable block mailbox policy.
