Emails are being forwarded even when forwarding was switched off in Plesk Panel

Symptoms

Emails are still being forwarded even when forwarding incoming messages was switched off in Plesk Panel.

Cause

Database inconsistency.

Resolution

  1. Ceate psa database backup:

    # MYSQL_PWD=`cat /etc/psa/.psa.shadow` mysqldump -uadmin psa > /tmp/psa.`date +%F_%H.%M`.sql
  2. Find setting of the mailname in question, for example test@example.com :

    # MYSQL_PWD=`cat /etc/psa/.psa.shadow` mysql -uadmin psa

    mysql> SET @domain_name := 'example.com';
    mysql> SET @name := 'test';
    mysql> select * from mail where dom_id=(select id from domains where name=@domain_name) and mail_name=@name\\G
    *************************** 1. row ***************************
    id: 7
    userId: 11
    mail_name: test
    perm_id: 0
    postbox: true
    account_id: 23
    redirect: false
    redir_addr: forwarding@example.com
    mail_group: false
    autoresponder: false
    spamfilter: false
    virusfilter: none
    mbox_quota: -1
    disk_usage: 0
    dom_id: 5
    apsServiceAccountInstanceId: 0
    apsAntivirusServiceInstanceId: 0
    apsAntispamServiceInstanceId: 0
    1 row in set (0.00 sec)
  3. Remove the redir_addr :

    mysql>  update mail set redir_addr = '' where dom_id=(select id from domains where name=@domain_name) and mail_name=@name;

    Note: If you would like to remove mail forwarding for the whole Plesk Server, please remove mail.redir_addr data for all mail accounts and set forwarding to 'false':

    mysql> update mail set redir_addr='';
    mysql> update mail set redirect='false';

If it was not helped, find .qmail files in /var/qmail/mailnames/example.com/test/ and check whether it contains an entry alike &forwarding@example.com
