Parallels Plesk Panel 11.5 for Windows does not detect ColdFusion 10 installation

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 11.x for Windows
  • Plesk 12.0 for Windows

Symptoms

ColdFusion 10 services are stopped, ColdFusion component is removed from 'Server Components' after the 'Refresh' action is performed under Tools & Settings > Server Components in the Parallels Plesk Panel.

Cause

ColdFusion 10 installation as a Plesk component, as opposed to installation of ColdFusion of previous versions, requires admin login and password. If administrative credentials for the ColdFusion admin are not specified, ColdFusion service would be stopped once all server components are re-read. The component would also be removed from the 'Server Components' list.

Resolution

To install ColdFusion manually as Parallels Plesk Panel component, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the Parallels Plesk Panel server as the administrator by using Remote Desktop.
  2. Obtain a ColdFusion distribution package and install the application on the Parallels Plesk Panel server by running the package installer.
  3. When selecting Web servers and/or Web sites to configure for use with ColdFusion, enter Internet Information Server (IIS) for Web server and Default Web Site for IIS Web Site if required. Also enable "Configure 32bit web server" option as it is said in the article: Coldfusion32bit
  4. Start Parallels Plesk Panel Reconfigurator and use the Correct disk permissions option to automatically set correct user permissions on the ColdFusion installation folders and files.

Note: The security settings on the ColdFusion installation folder and files must be configured to allow script execution on behalf of IIS user accounts. For more information about IIS user account permissions, see "Windows Accounts Used by Parallels Plesk Panel to Manage Hosted Windows Objects" .

  5. On Server components page click Refresh button.

  6. On same Server components page click on ColdFusion (under Component name column).

  7. Specify "Adobe ColdFusion 10 10.0.0.0" as version and submit ColdFusion administrator login and password.

  8. Log in to the ColdFusion Administrator and configure the ColdFusion server by following the ColdFusion Configuration Wizard.
  9. Complete the installation of ColdFusion engine as Parallels Plesk Panel component by following the general integration procedure:
    • Log in to the Parallels Plesk Panel as the administrator.
    • Go to Home > Server Components. The list of the currently registered Parallels Plesk Panel components is displayed.
    • Click Refresh under Tools. The list of registered Parallels Plesk Panel components is refreshed. The integrated component entry appears in the list. The newly installed ColdFusion component entry appears in the Parallels Plesk Panel components list.

If you install ColdFusion 10 on 64-bit Windows before Parallels Plesk Panel, switch IIS to the 32-bit mode first. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the Parallels Plesk Panel server as the administrator.
  2. Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
  3. Type the following command to enable the 32-bit mode:

    cscript %SYSTEMDRIVE%\\inetpub\\adminscripts\\adsutil.vbs SET W3SVC/AppPools/Enable32bitAppOnWin64 true
  4. Obtain a ColdFusion 10 distribution package and install the application on the Parallels Plesk Panel server by running the package installer.

  5. During the installation confirm that ColdFusion will be working in the 32-bit mode.

  6. Log in to the ColdFusion Administrator and configure the ColdFusion server by following the ColdFusion Configuration Wizard.
  7. After installation of Parallels Plesk Panel, complete the installation of ColdFusion engine as Parallels Plesk Panel component by following the general integration procedure specified above (step 8).

Installing ColdFusion 10 on 64-bit Windows after Parallels Plesk Panel does not require any special actions.

Manual Upgrade

To upgrade the ColdFusion component manually, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the Parallels Plesk Panel server as administrator by using Remote Desktop.
  2. Obtain a ColdFusion upgrade package and apply the upgrade to the existing installation.
  3. Complete the upgrade of ColdFusion component by following the general integration procedure . The upgraded ColdFusion component entry appears in the Parallels Plesk Panel components list.
