Tools & Settings > Updates & Upgrades (for Plesk 11 and higher) or Tools & Utilities > Updates (for Plesk 10) cannot be opened: the page just loads continuously or the following error appears in a browser:
The connection has timed out
The port 8447 is not filtered by a Firewall.
The port 8447 is in the listening state:
# netstat -natp | grep :8447
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:8447 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 15357/autoinstaller
After a redirection from Plesk > Tools & Settings > Updates & Upgrades to the Updates and Upgrades page, a password for the
rootuser is asked.
The Plesk Installer process is already running or has hanged and the new Plesk Installer process cannot re-open the port.
Plesk Installer process is not terminated after closing a browser. It is still active and dies after 30 minutes of inactivity.
Find and kill the hanging process manually:
# ps auxxf | grep instal
root 32351 0.0 0.0 4396 608 ? S 06:54 0:00 /bin/sh -c "/var/cache/parallels_installer/parallels_installer_Ubuntu_12.04_x86_64" "--service-mode" "--enable-xml-output" "--ssl-cert" "/opt/psa/admin/conf/httpsd.pem" "--branch" "release,stable" --web-interface --with-ssl --disable-browser
# kill 32351
# kill `pidof 32351`
Note: It is strongly recommended to check if the process is hanging and is not waiting for results from another utility. You can check activity using the
# strace -p <PID_of_autoinstaller>
Kill the autoinstaller processes from the command line using the following command:
C:\> taskkill /IM parallels_installer* /F
Note: It is strongly recommended to check the process is hanging and is not waiting for results from another utility. You can check the activity using the Microsoft Process Monitor tool.
