/etc/init.d/psa start returns warning: invoke-rc.d: initscript sw-engine, action "status" failed

Applicable to:

  • Plesk 12.5 for Linux

Symptoms

When trying to start services using /etc/init.d/psa start or /etc/init.d/psa startall it is retuned the following:

# /etc/init.d/psa startall
Starting sw_engine service... invoke-rc.d: initscript sw-engine, action "status" failed.
done
Starting sw_cp_server service... invoke-rc.d: initscript sw-cp-server, action "status" failed.

However, services have been successfully started:

# invoke-rc.d sw-engine status
* sw-engine-fpm is running
# invoke-rc.d sw-cp-server status
* sw-cp-serverd is running

Cause

The psa_service script uses invoke-rc.d for service actions on Ubuntu 14 , invoke-rc.d status command returns wrong output. It is just wrong output and it does not break anything. Bug # PPPM-4397 was subbmited for this issue.

Resolution

Correct psa_service , suppress invoke-rc.d status as below:
